Where a CPU limit is most likely to show up
- 1080p or reduced graphics settings where the GPU can finish frames quickly.
- 144 Hz, 165 Hz, 240 Hz or higher targets where the CPU must prepare more frames every second.

Resolution matters more than a single bottleneck percentage
1080p
Lower per-frame GPU load can expose the CPU sooner, especially when chasing high frame rates. This is the resolution where an older CPU is most likely to matter.
1440p
GPU load usually rises, so the balance often moves toward the graphics card. CPU-sensitive games and very high FPS targets can still remain processor-limited.
4K
The GPU normally performs substantially more rendering work per frame. That often reduces the size of a CPU mismatch, but it does not make the CPU irrelevant.

Do not confuse VRAM pressure with a CPU bottleneck
The RTX 5060 has 8 GB of VRAM. In games or creator workloads that need more graphics memory than is available, texture quality, ray tracing or other memory-heavy settings can cause stutter or reduced performance. That is a VRAM/settings constraint, not automatically evidence of a CPU bottleneck.
A bottleneck estimate is a decision-support tool, not a benchmark of one specific game. If you are about to spend money, confirm the result with repeatable tests in the games or applications you actually use.

Will a Ryzen 5 5600 bottleneck an RTX 5060?
Often the more useful question is whether the pairing reaches your target FPS. At 1080p, a Ryzen 5 5600 can show more CPU pressure in very high-refresh or CPU-heavy games, while GPU-heavy titles may remain graphics-limited. Check the exact game class and FPS target rather than treating the pairing as universally good or bad.
Is a Ryzen 5 3600 too old for an RTX 5060?
Not automatically. A Ryzen 5 3600 can still run many games, but it has less CPU headroom than newer processors when chasing high frame rates. If you already own one, test the real workload first; a platform upgrade is most valuable when the CPU is measurably preventing you from reaching your target.
Does the RTX 5060’s 8 GB VRAM count as a bottleneck?
VRAM capacity is a different kind of limit. If a workload exceeds the available graphics memory, you may see stutter, texture issues or reduced performance even when the CPU and GPU compute balance is otherwise reasonable.
